Join the WVCO’s Summer Chamber Orchestra and guest artist pianist DOW YEH as they explore MOZART’s magnificent Piano Concerto No. 20, SCHUBERT’s Overture in the Italian Style, and HAYDN’s immortal “London” Symphony in the intimate surroundings of two of the Willamette Valley’s churches.

Violin Concerto No. 1 in g minor, op. 26

Symphony No. 4 in e minor, op. 98

 

Romance and yearning blend together in this concert featuring the perennial favorite violin concerto by BRUCH with violin soloist JESSICA LAMBERT joining the WVCO. BRAHMS’ sweepingly romantic Fourth Symphony and the overture to WAGNER’s only comic opera “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg” round out this program.

The Planets, op. 32

 

Space, the final frontier . . . the conclusion of our 2009-2010 Season features music that captures the imagination and essence of the ultimate voyage . . . the exploration of space. Our intergalactic journey will lift off with music from Apollo 13, sweep us at warp speed through the cosmos to the future of Star Trek and back in time to the epic struggles of good and evil in Star Wars. We will return to our own solar system for a multi-media performance (created by Dr. A. Wesley Ward, Chief Scientist of the SW Region of the U.S.G.S. [retired]) of HOLST’s “The Planets.” Join the WVCO on its mission to boldly go where no one has gone before at the conclusion of an extraordinary season!
